With regret, we feel that we must say goodbye to our much loved 2800, one of the last 2800s constructed, which we have owned and cruised extensively (UK South Coast, Brittany, Channel Islands, Normandy, Isles of Scilly, Ireland, Firth of Clyde) since acquiring her in 1994. She has decent performance on all points. Unfortunately the mobility problems one of her crew have severely restricted our use of her in recent years. Nominally five berth, but ideal for two or three (though we did start sailing her with three children on board!). She is currently afloat on a marina berth. She had a satisfactory survey report in 2024.
The hull is generally in good condition, with original gelcoat above the waterline. The underside was epoxy coated some time ago, and no sign of osmosis has ever been found.
Volvo MD7A 2-cylinder diesel (original equipment), extensively re-built in 2013, since when it has started promptly and run sweetly. This is one of the simplest engines you could find, without reliance on complicated and vulnerable electrics. It had a new starter motor in 2014, and a recon. alternator also fitted around that time.
Volvo shaft seal fitted, but should now probably be replaced.
Twin 12v batteries, one for the starter motor and one for everything else. Both kept trickle charged via a smart charger, and in good condition. A new ignition switch was fitted 2025, but wiring to warning lights and fuel gauge needs looking at.
Standing and running rigging replaced 2023.
Mainsail and genoa valeted and repaired as necessary 2025. Cruising chute (not used recently). Lazy jacks, reefing and kicker led back to cockpit. Mainsail cover in good condition. Furlex genoa furling gear with line to cockpit.
Manual bilge pump.
New sprayhood and dodgers fitted 2023.
New s/s guardrails fitted 2022, arranged to disconnect amidships for easy access.
Garmin GPS, Nasa Depth/Log instrument, Nasa Wireless wind indicator, all working.
Reconditioned Autohelm, 2023.
VHF radio (aerial needs checking).
Tricolour masthead navigation/anchor lights – need attention.
Cabin lighting predominantly by LED fittings giving very good lighting levels.
Original Dufour upholstery, which a new owner would probably now wish to replace.
Twin burner hob and grill. Gas bottle in cockpit locker. Gas installation checked and certified 2025.
Gas, Fire and CO2 alarms. Fire extinguisher.
New wc flush mechanism fitted 2023.
A SeaGo 2.3m inflatable tender and ThrustMe Kicker electric outboard, both bought in 2024 and used very little, are not included in the price, but could be negotiated.
Asking price: £8500
