Also had the same problem. D 44 D2 55 motor saildrive. The saildrive was slightly too full of oil and bubbled up via the dip stick or possibly the drain pipe. Pump a little out and no further problem. Paper towel in the groove sucks it up. A little oil (like blood goes a long way).
