We have also got a 3 bladed KIWI prop on our D365 and are very happy with it. But when i rev in reverse the engine will not rev higher that about 1200 RPM. In forwards its fine and revs like a normal 2 or 3 bladed prop, its only in reverse. I think its because the reverse blade setting is too coarse and is therefore trying to propel far too much water for each revolution. We’ve tried an emergency crash stop, so from 5knots forward to stopping in 3/4 boat length and it was fine. But you cannot give it the burst of reverse when you need to as it stops revving at about 1200 RPM.
Do you know if the blade pitch in reverse or astern is adjustable ?
