We have a 1999 36 Classic and the pump, oddly, does not take the last few inches of water out of the sump, rather the pump is just out of sight of the sump inspection cover on the port side of the keel bolts. I have attached a photo taken in December when we done a bilge clean (we know how to rock!) this shows the position of the float switch and pump in relation to the sump, the pipes in the actual sump lead to the Whale manual pump and from the fridge drain.
