I like the idea of a stanchion base. Because it potentially saves the faff of taking the pulpit off, with the attendant wiring for the nav light, guard wires, etc etc. and I have noticed that a number of D34s in France seem to have stanchion bases to secure the pulpit.
I am wondering whether the stanchion bases are original fit by Dufour, or a fix done to repair. Does anyone know?
The base of my pulpit is flared which would make a stanchion base more difficult to get to fit snugly I think – see photo
