The locker you describe is meant for the life raft. I have a six person SeaGo raft there. The weight is 35kg if I recall propperly.
The ergonomics of liftting and dropping the raft behind the boat are OK.
I have however prepared a strapp that goes between the back stays with a tackle so that the raft can be lifted very easily.
