As it happens we are in the process of having repairs to the open stern locker behind the swim platform on our 2014 380GL….it has been the storage for the life raft for some years prior to our ownership. Due to the discovery of cracking/splits in the gelcoat we discovered the locker floor/sides are simply a thin laminate, not cored like the rest of the topsides. As a result, very little strength and the weight of the raft being bounced around whilst sailing the Irish Sea has proved too much for the laminate to bear.
I’m hoping that the 385 hasn’t suffered from this economical yet foolish short cut on manufacturing…..but worth checking? certainly before you chuck a liferaft in it!
