I have nothing constructive to add to the substantive matter, but would like to point out that obviously the WD40 should only be applied to the fresh-water deck filler after the entire fitting has been removed from the deck.
On a note of pedantry, the manufacturer is called Amiot, the “A” before the name being their logo. It IS confusing.
