I have just replaced all seacocks on a 34 Performance and found that once the mastic had set, any further tightening will almost certainly break the seal resulting in weep like leaking. The galley sink seacocks were recessed into the hull so when replacing them I used stainless washes as packing – otherwise very difficult to tighten the nut.
