Reply To: Changing genoa size sail on Dufour 365 – any advice?

We replaced our original genoa last winter on our 2006 365 GL. I obtained 3 quotes. A colleague of Rob Kemp, Owain Peters, was very helpful in a detailed phone conversation. Others less helpful, except to note that one incorrectly quoted me for a 100% instead of the 135% that I specified.

Our sailing is mainly in The Solent, so I have little need for a smaller jib although we have had several rolls in the genoa recently with the stronger than forecast winds a month or so ago! Also I can see the benefit of a higher clew giving more visibility under the sail when there are a lot of other craft around.Sometimes I put a roll in the genoa to be able to see clearly ahead.

I decided to order from Kemps using “high-tenacity polyester sailcloth”, their standard material. At my age,I only to expect to be sailing our Dufour for a year or two, so did not need to investigate the other available options.

I liked the way of handling my enquiry, they inspected and checked measurements on site on our yacht in the River Hamble, offer a winter order discount to members of the Dufour Association and promised delivery before Easter. They met the brief and delivered a few day early direct to their lock up at Swanwick marina which was an easy pick up for me.

I am very pleased with the result. Diva points 5 degrees higher as a result of the new sail. See pic below.
