Hi
for what it’s worth my 5p s worth .
On Nympheas ,which I sail / race solo ,I use a Wichard boom brake ,it takes a little bit of trial and error to get the correct level of friction, but is well worth the effort. The adjustment is all done from the cockpit.
Should you gybe unintentionally the consequences are far less dramatic, with the standard centre main setup on the 36 classic.I at present terminate one end of the friction line on the port hand shroud base ,then up through the wichard belay device ,down to starboard shroud base/friction ring onwards to jammer/winch in cockpit.
For blue water a full preventer may be preferable ,but for coastal/channel short handed work the wichard is worth a look .
