I’m the owner of a 38 Classic. as you probably know, it has just 1 helm. Please find pic of my cockpit where I’ve added a iPad with a simply holder that you can easily find on many websites. My chartplotter is almost old, so when I need more resolution I use Navionics on iPad. I don’t ask any more and I have saved my pocket.
I saw many chartplotters mounted far from the helm. I’ts a position absolutely wrong, because you can’t see nothing especially in day light or when you need to pay attention at the bathymetric and steering at the same time.
In my opinion a good solution is to install the new chartplotter (fixed mounted ) inside a Helm Instrument Holder as close as possible at the port helm.
To plug/unplug the device at the end of the day can be risky because connections are under stress.
