Hi Chris,
I bought a 30 Classic in 2017 and changed all the standing rigging, the mast-head wind gear, nav lights, and the roller gear for the jib. I went for the Plastimo gear which has proved to be the easiest roller furling system on any of the boats in my club and I have been very pleased with it. My only caveat is that the jib halyard should not be too tight as this affects the thrust bearings in the roller system. I do not race and find that a slightly relaxed luff on the jib is not a problem for me – more than made up for by the easiest roller furling I have ever had. It’s six years old and still as smooth as when installed.
Over to you.
Best regards,
Tim
