Reply To: Dufour 2800 keel bolts

Hi I have a 2800 and noticed some corrosion in way of the junction with the cast section and I presume the faired fibreglass section of the keel. I had the affected areas ground out and found the effect didn’t penetrate beyond a cm. It was filled and copper coated as new. The main effect was on the leading edge of the keel a long way from the keel bolts so I presume they should be ok. I’d be more worried about the crevice corrosion on the rudder stock. Mine was bad and needed careful welding to avoid distortion. I’ve got photos if you want them, but I would drop the rudder for a check. Good luck. John Bernie
