On my Dufour 39 GF design my rudder shaft had a tendency to lift the top bearing creating more play, I solved the problem by fitting a 60mm 316 stainless steel collar to the top of the shaft secured by grub screws, since fitting it five years ago I have not had a problem. See photo below.
