I have a dufour44 steering went very stiff
When the boat was hauled out at end of season I dropped the rudder and found the bottom bearing had swelled
I replaced it with the top bearing(as new)
Then replaced the rudder with boat still in slings
I obtained the new bearing (approx £300)
And fitted it without the need for an extra lift!
Is now perfect and wheel a delight
I feel that your bearings will be the same
As mine ie floating
