I had mine replaced after 10 years. It was perfectly good and a complete waster of money. It is now 17 years old from new ( 38.5 ) and I do not intend having it done again.
There are NO reported cases of sinking due to this that I am aware of.
I think the Association should write to Dufour and get this advice removed.
